6 more Malaysian pilgrims die in Mecca

MECCA: Six more Malaysian pilgrims have died in the Holy Land, bringing the total number of deaths so far to 14, says religious affairs minister Na’im Mokhtar.

Na’im said all of the pilgrims who died had time to perform the wukuf, and that most of them died from heart disease, pneumonia and blood infection.

They are Bawi Solek, 75, from Kampung Hilir Pusa, Sarawak; Raksan Matasil, 74, from Kota Kinabalu, Sabah; Madon Mohamed, 71, from Masai, Johor; Roba’ayah Yusoff, 71, from Beruas, Perak; Syed Abu Hassan Basri Syed Ahmad, 74, from Sauk, Perak; and Nik Noor Azlinna Noor Basir, 54, from Kota Bharu, Kelantan.

“The Saudi Arabian hospital and TH staff have helped the next of kin of the deceased here and informed their next of kin in Malaysia.

A total of 93 Malaysian pilgrims are also being treated, 11 of whom have been placed at Saudi Arabian hospitals including two in critical condition at the King Abdulaziz Hospital. The other 82 are at the TH treatment centre in Mecca.
