SINGAPORE: According to local media CNA today, Singapore will pursue financial recompense from the owners of the stationary vessel that spilled the oil in order to cover the expenditures spent.
The shipowner of the Singapore-flagged Marine Honour, which was struck by the Netherlands-flagged dredger Vox Maxima, is responsible for the expenses involved in containing and cleaning the oil spill as well as any damage to infrastructure, the marine and port authority informed CNA.

Earlier, the port authority said the dredger Vox Maxima had experienced a sudden loss in engine and steering control before it hit Marine Honour at Pasir Panjang Terminal.
Fuel oil leaked into the sea from the burst of one of the ship’s oil cargo tanks as a result.
The oil was transported to Sentosa island as well as beaches and parks throughout Singapore.
Following the disaster, Singapore saw a massive cleanup effort, with personnel installing 3,400 meters of booms and conducting oil collection operations at sea that depend on drone and satellite footage in addition to predictive modeling of wind and tide conditions.
The port administration swiftly made sure there were no more leaks from the ship and sprayed dispersant to treat the spilled oil last Friday when the accident happened, according to Transport Minister Chee Hong Tat, who posted on Facebook.
Chee clarified that port congestion was not the cause of the event.
